“For to us a child is born, to us a son is given, and the government will be on his shoulders. And he will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.”Isaiah 9:6 NIV
Every day is a fight for peace, especially when facing uncertainty and fear. My journey through a challenging pregnancy has shown me that true peace comes from trusting God, even when circumstances seem overwhelming.
Opening Reflection
Every day was a battle for peace as we navigated the endless doctor’s appointments for our daughter, Zoe. With each visit, I grew more frustrated—frustrated with the doctors, the reports we were given, and the overwhelming sense of helplessness that comes with being first-time parents. At 26 weeks, we got the diagnosis of high amniotic fluid. By 28 weeks, they found a bubble in her stomach that they believed would need surgery.

Starting the first week of December 23, we began going to the doctors about three times a week. Each day was a struggle to find peace. At night, we would worship, and that gave me some calm and allowed me to sleep. I often spoke to God about what I needed to learn through this experience. There were many days when we had no money, and our accounts were overdrawn. Each of these appointments came with a $50 co-pay, which was hard to manage when we had nothing or were in the negative in our accounts.
My Battle
Even when our bank accounts were empty, we held onto the belief that God was bringing us peace. We kept reminding ourselves of the God of peace, even with everything happening around us. It was hard, especially when I wanted an easy pregnancy, being so young and healthy.
Every day, we anointed my tummy and prayed for health—full health, no excess of anything, just a perfect amount of everything. At first, this was tough, but I refused to let the devil steal what was ours and refused to let him rob us of the peace that God declared to be true. Zoe would be perfect; she was created by God, and she is His child more than she is mine.
God’s promise
The devil will always try to steal your joy. Everyday you have to fight for your peace. You have to know that there is no other peace like the peace of our savior. Jesus is the Prince of Peace. (Isaiah 9:6) Happiness is based on your life circumstances but joy is a person. Even without knowing everyday what would happen, I had to wake up and declare that this is God’s child and what is in his will-will be done.
Scriptural Foundation

Be still, and know that I am God. I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth! Psalms 46:10
Resting in his peace
Sometimes there is no solution in the moment. Sometimes it is just a fight to keep your peace and not allow all of the life factors to drown you. Every day you have to lay all of those things that you cannot control down. You have to lay it at God's feet. Be still and know that God is working on a bigger plan for your life. We have the peace that is everlasting in all situations even ones that have no real solution. Do not allow any circumstance take a joy that is given freely by God.
Living out your faith
Repeat the verses “Be still and know that I am God” write it out. Think about it. Every time you feel joy slipping from you think about the fact that we can be still and calm and God is our warrior. God is not our circumstances. God is doing something bigger than we even know. God is showing us how to trust him. How to walk with him every single day. God is molding us to be like him. All we have to do is keep trusting his plan. Even when we do not see the light for our situation. Remember that God is the light.
Be still and know that I am God. Breath it in and breathe it out.

Be.
Still.
And.
Know.
That.
I.
Am.
God .
